On the evening of November 30th 1997, the Sydney Opera House was transformed into what reviewers called ‘a theatre of the senses’.

Tony O’Connor, Australia’s cherished composer, presented a spell-bound audience with an unforgettable evening of music, vision and magic.

Filmed and recorded by the ABC and joined by a troupe of musicians, Tony presents favourites and new pieces, while performing on piano, electric oboe, guitar and keyboards. A stunning backdrop of nature video images sets the stage, and you are transported into a magical 90minute audio-visual journey.

For many years Tony’s music has warmed the hearts of others. His wonderful albums have taken us on journeys of the heart, adventures of the spirit, inspired us and comforted us in times of need.

Tonight I’d like to present to you an opportunity to take another journey and experience the next dimension of this talented artist.

Blending vision with his music has been a natural progression for Tony. His ability to assemble his orchestra of sounds to create a beautiful melody or tell a wonderful story is witnessed again in his use of video and graphics.

It is very difficult to say what you will feel tonight, because for so many of us, Tony’s music has become a very personal encounter. So please sit back, relax and let the music take you wherever you want to go. I know that Tony believes your presence here tonight is just as important as the music being played no the stage.

I hope that you will share and enjoy this evening and take a little of the magic home with you.

Jacqui O’Connor
